From Season 1's initial shoot out to the cliffhanger Season 4 premiere where Ed Lane's wife was having problems with her pregnancy, the premiere episodes of each season of "Flashpoint" have been intense, but the first episode of the fifth and final season of the hit cop show, blows them all out of the water.
"This job isn't about firing guns. This job is about getting into the subject's head," says Ed Lane in the first few scenes of the episode, addressing his son's school class. "It's about listening to what they have to say. You've got to connect, respect and protect."

The recordings of the fifth season of Flashpoint have been completed in Toronto. On his last day of filming, Amy wore a beautiful black social set. The last scene was recorded in the studio where is the base of the SRU.
All members of the cast and crew of Flashpoint gathered for a photo together, soon after the last scene is finished. In the picture, we see sitting in the chairs central Enrico Colantoni, Hugh Dillon and Amy Jo Johnson. Backed by Amy David Paetkau was right and the left side of Enrico, the show's creators, Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, and actor Sergio Di Zio.

The last season of Flashpoint will bring something new to fans: A new song by Amy Jo Johnson on the soundtrack. Amy will write a song especially for the series.
The movement was happening on twitter for more than a week, with fans asking for a song from Amy in the new season, with producer Mark Ellis. Until last Thursday, the very Amy wrote a tweet telling Mark that she could write a new song for the series. The application of Amy was followed by numerous messages from fans that led Mark to say on twitter:
I'm flooded with people who want to hear you sing. I'll send a…
That's right folks, as you already might see through our twitter and many sites that spread the news, today officially announced that the Flashpoint series will end after the screening of his fifth season.
It is important to emphasize that this was a decision made by the producers and not by Flashpoint broadcaster CTV. They were brave in wanting to end the series at the top, still being one of the largest Canadian TV audiences.
Flashpoint will close its production and the longer time series where Amy stayed and where she received the highest number of award nominations for his character.…
The fifth season of Flashpoint is now being filmed in Toronto and thanks the people who work in production, have started out pictures of what is happening behind the scenes of movie sets.
Because Amy Jo Johnson had cut the hair of the recordings during the holidays, many fans were wondering if the new look of it would also be incorporated into her character. She first appeared with the new haircut on his show in November as shown here.
Now with photos of scenes, we can confirm that yes Jules will have shorter hair this season. This is the first time the character appears with a noticeable…
Exclusive: I've learned that the Universal Channel has acquired the UK broadcast rights to the first season of Canadian police drama series Flashpoint and, in what is a very fast turnaround, they have already set Monday March 19th at 8pm as the premiere date.
Flashpoint follows an elite unit of the Canadian police know as the Strategic Response Unit or SRU, who take on high profile cases such as hostage situations, bomb threats and taking down heavily armed criminals. The series was created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and stars Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, Sergio Di Zio, David…

On Tuesday, the 18th, came the premiere of Flashpoint in his new station in the United States, the pay channel ION, which in addition to new episodes, also acquired all the previous seasons of the series.
To further brighten the premiere, the protagonists of Flashpoint, Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau and Enrico Colantoni have been to the United States and attended the launch party sponsored by ION, the restaurant "TO YOU" in New York. The cast along with the guests watched the first episode aired by ION, "Grounded". They also posed for photographers on the site:
When and where: Fridays at 8 p.m. on CTV, CBS
At 38, B.C.-raised actor David Paetkau has finally put the teen roles behind him.
The fresh-faced guy out of the Sunshine Coast, who got his start in the late-1990s Vancouver production boom, plays a war-vet police sharpshooter on CTV's Flashpoint -a character younger than the real Paetkau, but at least out of high school.
"When I started, that played in my favour," says Paetkau. "I played teenagers and everything was teen horror, teen this and teen that, and I was able to get jobs right away. It's been a mixed blessing . . . then I…
If you are in the vicinity of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum or CargoJet facilities June 22 to 24 and see what appears to be police tactical unit activity, don't be alarmed. Filming is under way for the CTV/CBS police action/drama television series Flashpoint, which stars Amy Jo Johnson, Enrico Colantini and Hugh Dillon.
Different locations at the Hamilton International Airport are being used as backdrops for scenes; a large Boeing 737 jet will also be used for both interior and exterior filming.
An early morning visit on Friday, June 17 to the set of this critically-acclaimed show…
Yesterday, Amy Jo Johnson and his fellow cast of Flashpoint, were in the "CTV Upfront 2011", held by the CTV annual festival that brings together stars for their announcement of their new programming. The artists of the station were present, along with journalists and members of the CTV to represent their own series and TV shows.
The cast of Flashpoint was present on the red carpet event and was also called to the stage of the festival to talk about the series. Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram and Enrico Colantoni, also presented a new actor who will be…
Toronto, ON (June 1, 2011) - Bell Media announced today the commencement of the Bell Benefits, as the company begins its search for the next great Canadian TV program or series. The announcement comes as CTV also independently orders new seasons of three scripted original series, as well as a new original movie, for 2011/12. Additionally, Bell Media announced the start of production on two previously announced pilots for the network, "Saving Hope" and "Stay with Me."
The Bell Benefits is the $100 million programming investment in programs of national interest, resulting from BCE's purchase…
Tonight, Flashpoint asked the question, how far would you go to save the life of your own child? Would you rob a bank? Kidnap a donor? Risk jail, or even your life?
In "Thicker Than Blood," Mark Logan has reached that stage. His son, Chris, is dying from leukemia and the only solution is a paid donor who wants $40,000. In order to get the money, he arranges to "rob" a bank and that's where the SRU comes in.
When Parker and the gang first arrive on the scene, they think they're dealing with a typical bank hold-up. Witnesses tell them that the bank manager called the man Mr. Finch and Finch…
SEASON PREMIERE Flashpoint, 8 p.m., CBS Us Yanks south of the Canadian border will have to continue to cheer for Amy Jo Johnson. That's how we roll.
SERIES PREMIERE A.N.T. Farm, 8:40 p.m., Disney Gifted middle-school students attend a high school, just so they can develop teen angst a little bit faster than normal. They're no Doogie Howsers, that's for sure.
Killer Outbreaks, 9 p.m., Animal Planet The CDC wonders if smallpox has returned to the Midwest, and there's a deadly disease at a Dallas hospital. This sounds an awful lot like the plot of the first X-Files movie.
CTV's Gemini Award winning Flashpoint, which portrays the missions of Toronto's Strategic Response Unit, will be returning to the CBS network in the United States on Friday, May 6.
The SRU tactical police squad is inspired by Toronto's actual Emergency Task Force, and stars Enrico Colantoni, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau and Kingston-born Hugh Dillon.
This season will replace the new series "CHAOS", which is going on hiatus now but reportedly will return to the schedule at a later date.
Flashpoint premiered on CBS in July of 2008 and went on to become the summer's top original scripted…
CBS has seen enough from "Chaos." The network has pulled the freshman spy dramedy from its Friday schedule effective immediately.
With "Chaos" yanked, CBS will fill the Friday 8 p.m. gap with a "CSI: New York" repeat this week and coverage of the Royal Wedding on April 29.
Then, on May 6, CBS has scheduled the return of "Flashpoint" for the 8 p.m. hour. The resilient Canadian police drama averaged 7.13 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 during its airings last summer. In contrast, "Chaos" drew 5.525 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating last Friday.
In the United States, the holy grail of ratings slots tonight - immediately after the Super Bowl - will be filled by an episode of FOX's "Glee". But Canadian game watchers will be treated to the season finale of CTV's "Flashpoint", starring Kingston-born actor Hugh Dillon as Head SRU (Strategic Response Unit) sniper Ed Lane.
The Gemini Award winning "Flashpoint" follows the missions of Toronto's Strategic Response Unit, a tactical police squad inspired by the city's actual Emergency Task Force. At this year's Gemini Awards, the series was voted the #2 favorite Canadian television show of all…
"What do you do with the guilt, all those times your best wasn't good enough?" a police psychologist and so-called "team breaker" asks Hugh Dillon's character in tonight's absorbing season finale of Flashpoint.
It's a rhetorical question: the psychologist, played with a malevolent tension and steely reserve by Victor Garber, is probing the Flashpoint team for its weak underbelly. The rumour of job cuts lingers over the team, and the psychologist has a reputation for breaking up emergency-response units, if he feels there's a weak link.
As written by creator-producers Mark Ellis and…
ION has deal to syndicate the Toronto-based Canadian cop drama 'Flashpoint' after CBS airs what will likely be the show's final 13 episodes.
How is this for diplomatic relations? The Canadian cop drama Flashpoint will live to see a fourth season, thanks to a collaborative effort from American channels CBS and ION that will help finance the upcoming 18 episodes ordered by CTV.
After CBS aired its last episode of Flashpoint in September of 2010, the network remained mum on future plans to have the program continue in the United States. Then, at the Television Critics Association press tour,…

CTV has scheduled the season finale of the Canadian cop drama Flashpoint to air in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot on Sunday, Feb. 6.
In Flashpoint's third-season finale, titled Fault Lines, military psychologist and "team-breaker" Dr. Larry Toth (guest star Victor Garber) peers inside the heads of Team One collectively and individually.
With the fate of the unit up in the air, the wife of Ed (Hugh Dillon) goes into labour, the leadership of Parker (Enrico Colantoni) is questioned, and Sam (David Paetkau) and Jules (Amy Jo Johnson) must decide whether either one of them is willing to give…
It's the early days of 2011, which means it's make or break time on New Year's resolutions. For motivation or reinforcement, look to Tuesday's surprisingly diverse amount of fresh TV programming. Every show offers lessons and examples to help keep you on track.
For those who vowed to keep in shape (or to conduct more efficient manhunts), the always frenzied-but-focused team on Flashpoint gives chase to a dangerous convict on the lam in the mid-season premiere of the Canadian-made hit. (CTV, 8 p.m.)
For those who committed to watching more reality TV - or who enjoy watching someone with a…
When it comes to prisoners escaping custody, you have to hope police transport vans are more secure in real life than they are on TV or in the movies.
After all, prisoners in scripted projects tend to free themselves from transport vans with alarming regularity. And all their accomplices always seem to know exactly when the van is leaving and where it's headed. Weird.
Anyway, that's just a side observation with regard to the Canadian cop drama Flashpoint, which begins airing the back end of its third season on Tuesday, Jan. 4, on CTV.
In the new episode titled Collateral Damage, a pre-…
The thrilling Canadian television series Flashpoint failed to dominate the Gemini Awards as expected. Despite leading with 15 nominations, Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern's police procedural scored only two wins Sunday.
One went to David Frazee for directing the Season 2 episode One Wrong Move, the other to veteran actor Michael Riley as best guest star in his category. Overall, Flashpoint lost as best dramatic series to the final season of The Tudors. Henry VIII still wields his kingly privileges.
From a home entertainment perspective, however, both Flashpoint and The Tudors are equal…
On American TV, it's the summer of the Canadian cop show - Flashpoint and The Bridge are airing on CBS, and ABC recently picked up Rookie Blue. This southward invasion is good news for all the Canucks working on those programs, but it's upsetting to Boston Globe writer Alex Beam.
Beam isn't a xenophobe - he's just disappointed that these shows aren't more, well, explicitly Canadian. In a thought-provoking column from yesterday, Beam argues that Flashpoint looks like any generic American police drama: "[it] celebrates everything the Canadians say they hate about us Americans: It's…
This summer has proven to be a big success for Canadian cop shows airing on U.S. television networks, and CTV's Flashpoint has continued its record of garnering very good ratings for CBS on Friday nights.
One of the show's most prominent characters is Head SRU (Strategic Response Unit) sniper Ed Lane, portrayed by Kingston-born actor Hugh Dillon. In addition to being born in Kingston, Dillon was also lead singer for the hard rock band The Headstones which formed in Kingston in 1987 and was one of the country's most successful bands until their breakup in 2003.
In a recent interview with the…
Canada's most-watched original drama series is back with a bang this summer with the highly anticipated third season of FLASHPOINT, Fridays at 10 p.m. ET beginning August 6 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). With last Friday's Season 3 sneak peek delivering 1.3 million viewers, and winning the night, Canadians can now lock their sights on a new season of adrenaline-pumping action that features an array of talented guest stars including Lauren Holly (NCIS), Douglas Smith (BIG LOVE) and Victor Garber (ALIAS). Kelly Rowan (The Good Times Are Killing Me) guest stars in the…
Whether you watch it or not (or have even heard of it), Flashpoint is one of the best dramas (cop or otherwise) on television right now. Action, drama, a hint of comedy, great writing, it's got it all, and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. The show features an amazing cast of TV hard hitters including Amy Jo Johnson, Enrico Colantoni and Hugh Dillon. Now in its third season on CBS (or second if you go by the CTV numbers), this Canadian import has proven to be a huge hit for both networks. Now having been picked up for two more seasons, one of which that has already completed…
Buckle up FLASHPOINT fans! A quick-hit teaser of a third season locked and loaded with hard-hitting storylines, painful decisions, and Team One's toughest adversaries yet, the mid-summer primer is a can't miss target for FLASHPOINT fans. Earlier this month CTV announced the pick-up of a fourth season which will begin production in Toronto for the 2010/2011 season. Following…

As if it's not difficult enough to get work done on Friday, the 2010 Scripps Naitonal Spelling Beeis broadcast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on ESPN. Later, Chris Harrison (of "The Bachelor" fame) hosts live coverage from Washington, as 274 kids ages 8 to 15 compete. And fun fact: In 2009, Kavya Shivashankar of Olathe, Kan., took home the…

A few months ago, Starz, an American premium cable network, surprisingly announced the renewal of Spartacus: Blood and Sand for a second season before the broadcast of the first season. Now, CTV, a Canadian private TV network, announced that it has renewed its hit action TV series Flashpoint for a fourth season. Besides, the show's third season hasn't premiered in Canada yet.
This Canadian TV series follows a team of the fictitious Strategic Response Unit (SRU),* a paramilitary unit of the Toronto Police Department. For each of its mission, the SRU aims to only use force as the last resort.…

CBS will launch the third season of the Toronto-lensed action cop series "Flashpoint", Friday, June 4, at 9 PM.
The show was created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern and stars Enrico Colantoni, Amy Jo Johnson, Hugh Dillon and David Paetkau.
"...'Flashpoint' follows an elite tactical unit, called the 'Strategic Response Unit' (SRU), styled after the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force (ETF). The SRU are tasked to resolve extreme situations that regular officers are not trained to handle including hostage-taking, bomb threats and heavily armed criminals. Equipped with high-tech…
CTV's summer programming schedule is anchored by returning favourites and fresh new series, including the highly-anticipated new summer drama SCOUNDRELS (June 20), the return of LAW & ORDER: CI (June 20) and the new reality game series DOWNFALL (June 22).
As previously announced by the broadcaster, anchoring it all is perennial audience pleaser SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (May 27), which returns for a seventh season in high definition.
Additionally, encore episodes of FLASHPOINT (June 4) and THE BRIDGE (July 10) air in simulcast with CBS, while additional CTV original series return with…
Since she was a new mom at the time, Amy Jo Johnson was missing for some of the sophomore round of this smartly paced police drama, a Canadian-American co-production shown in the U.S. on CBS.
In her absence, Jessica Steen ("Armageddon") filled in as the female member of the Strategic Response Unit, an elite team called in to defuse immediate-threat matters. Enrico Colantoni ("Veronica Mars") continues as the squad's leader, and Hugh Dillon ("Durham County") also stars. *** (Not rated: AS, P, V)
There's finally some good news for fans of CBS's Flashpoint TV show.
Flashpoint follows the work of a group of highly trained police officers called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU). The series stars Enrico Colantoni, David Paetkau, Hugh Dillon, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram, Mark Taylor, Ruth Marshall, and Amy Jo Johnson.
After nine months away, the Canada-produced show is finally returning to US primetime. A repeat of a first season episode, "Scorpio," is scheduled for Saturday, May 29th. Then, new episodes will begin airing on Friday, June 4th. This will be the cop series' third season on…
Flashpoint for a third season. However, according to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the third season of this procedural drama created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern has been in production since January 13, 2010.
Indeed, after a visit on the OMDC's web site, The Cultural Post found a document that lists all the films and TV series that are "filming in Ontario [...] as of April 9, 2010". Besides, to top it all, the OMDC indicates two things about the show. First of all, Flashpoint's production crew can be contacted through this e-mail adress (flashpointproductions@…
It has been less than six months since I reviewed the Season 1 DVD release of Flashpoint here on CinemaSpy.com. Nevertheless, Phase 4 Films is already releasing episodes from Season 2 on the Canadian home entertainment market. If you purchased the first season set and are expecting more of the same, though, you might not be totally satisfied. Flashpoint Season 2 Volume 1, which comes out north of the border today, includes more of the intelligent script writing and slick action that characterize this Canadian procedural. Unlike the 13-episode Season 1 DVD set, however, this new release…
Attention to those who live in Canada and the USA. The second season of Flashpoint is coming soon on DVD. However, since this Canadian cop drama is distributed by a specific distributor in each country, expect the release in both countries to be different.
This TV series created by Stephanie Morgenstern and Mark Ellis follows a team of the Strategic Response Unit (SRU), a tactical unit based on Toronto's Emergency Task Force (ETF). This team is led by Sgt. Gregory Parker (Enrico Colantoni), a negociator. He's accompanied by Ed Lane (Hugh Dillon), a sniper; Jules Callaghan (Amy Jo…
CBS has been having a great season. Several of their new shows have been successful and many of their established series are still doing well. Unfortunately, that could be bad news for fans of a little show called Flashpoint.
Flashpoint follows the work of a group of highly trained police officers called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU). The series stars Enrico Colantoni, David Paetkau, Hugh Dillon, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram, Mark Taylor, Ruth Marshall, and Amy Jo Johnson.
The show was initially produced for Canada's CTV and CBS picked up the rights to air season one during the writers…
After losing one of their own to a landmine, a new recruit named Leah joined the SRU.
However, despite the waves Leah caused when learning the ropes in Toronto's most intense police unit, Olunike Adeliyi says she had the opposite experience with the cast and crew when she joined the series.
For the young Canadian actress, she says she was welcomed by the show, even before she landed the role - especially during an audition with series star Hugh Dillon ("Ed Lane").
"When I went to do the test shoot, Hugh was so gracious and wonderful with me, and he just built up my confidence... just going…
CALGARY - It was all about the little moments Saturday night at the Gemini Awards.
Grey-haired Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson paid tribute to the Trailer Park Boys, who got a standing ovation -_and a freaked-out Bubbles wet his pants.
Mike Reno of Calgary-born rock band Loverboy and Canadian Idol Theo Tams dusted off Working for the Weekend; Calgary-born Glee star Corey Monteith played the drums and host Ron James suggested Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, looks like a horse.
"Get that Toronto knot out of your neck and loosen up," James told the crowd. "We're in the Corral for a party."
Canada's Gemini Awards touched down in Calgary on Saturday night, with the slick Toronto-set cop drama Flashpoint the evening's big winner.
The police drama nabbed a trio of trophies at the annual celebration of Canadian English-language TV: best drama, best director for Kelly Makin, and best actor in a continuing drama for Enrico Colantoni, who stars as the leader of the show's elite police tactical unit.
Producer Anne Marie La Traverse thanked the show's growing fan base.
"Every week the numbers have been creeping up and we've been awed by [your] loyalty," she said on stage. "This is why…
